Three VTA Operators Are Now Regional Contenders!
| Release Number: | nr06-11 |
| Release Date: | June 30, 2008 |
San Jose, Calif. – The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is proud to announce three finalists for the regional bus competition held later this year. The winners were determined following VTA’s Annual Technical Driving Competition for Coach Operators over the weekend. The event attracted dozens of VTA employees to the Chaboya Division, where participants demonstrated their superb skills and enjoyed VTA camaraderie.
VTA has held competitive “roadeos” for more than 30 years. This year, judges awarded Bus Operator Harnam Singh a plaque and a rodeo jacket after he captured first place. Thomas Dominguez took second place and Ronald Langston came in third; both received plaques. These bus operators, along with contestants from other local area transit properties will compete for top regional honors at the SamTrans facility in San Francisco on October 18, 2008.
Combined local and regional scores from VTA Bus Operators will determine the winners to represent VTA at the American Public Transit Association International Bus Rodeo Competition, scheduled for May 2009 in Seattle, Washington.
